New Process for Handling "NONZ" Equipment Effective October 1, 2006

BNSF is handling an increasing number of private trailers that do not display unit initials. To avoid misrouting these trailers, a new process will be implemented to handle trailers with no initial designation on the unit.

Under the existing process, all private trailers without initials are automatically assumed to have the generic initials of "NONZ."

A new process will go into effect on October 1, 2006. Your BNSF Intermodal Sales Representative will be contacting you with details; however, following are some of the significant points:

      · "NONZ" will no longer be used as default initials.
      · Trailers that have stenciled numbers but no initials must be billed using the billing customer’s designated SCAC code.
      · Initials will be assigned to any customer who doesn’t have a registered SCAC code.
      · Occasionally trailers are brought to the gate without any markings (neither initials nor numbers). These units will be turned away at the gate.
