Correction: Updates to Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide for Lift Provisions, Prohibited Shipments and Chassis Locking Device Restraints
Effective immediately, BNSF is implementing a new charge for lifting tank containers and providing clarification on coiled metal and scrap metal and chassis locking device restraints, as reflected in the BNSF Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide:
Item 9: Shipper Loading and Unloading Equipment
As a reminder, shippers are responsible for ensuring all chassis locking devices, such as zip ties or cables, are removed before the shipment is parked at a BNSF intermodal facility. Any ties, cables or restraining devices should be removed and placed in the appropriate receptacles.
Item 14: Lift Provisions (Flips)
Additional lift services for a tank container that is less than eight feet in height will incur a charge of $500 per lift.
Item 38: Drayage and Appendix E: Prohibited Shipments
BNSF will not perform cross-town transfers, drayage or interchange of coiled metal and scrap metal shipments.
