Logistics Park Chicago Facility and Process Enhancements

Changes are being made at BNSF’s premier international facility--Logistics Park Chicago--in time for the 2006 peak shipping season. Outlined below are facility and process enhancements that represent BNSF’s commitment to meeting customers’ expectations by providing customers with more capacity, service and overall value.

Facility Enhancements
In addition to the recently completed 115-acre parking expansion in Lot 2, BNSF has acquired property along Baseline Road for the purpose of expanding the wheeled parking capacity in our main yard. The additional parking area--known as Lot 1--will be available by September, 2006. In addition, a new checkpoint is being constructed in the south end of Lot 2 that will improve facility throughput. The checkpoint should be operational by November, 2006.

Process Enhancements
Effective immediately, the pre-mount program at Logistics Park Chicago is suspended. All inbound cargo will default to wheels. Please ensure that an appropriate number of chassis are available to support inbound containers. (The pre-mount program at St. Paul, Minnesota remains in effect.)

Customers can continue to use the BNSF DLL System to inquire regarding the mounted status of their containers. The Display Intermodal Lot Location query is intended to aid customers in accessing information necessary to expedite Intermodal container pick up and out gate transactions. If the container is grounded and the information is available, the query result will contain Chassis Initial and Number, Current Station Location, and Current Lot/Row Location. If the container has been notified, the Last Free Day for Storage will also be displayed.

Inbound arriving containers will be ground stacked for only the following reasons: carrier chassis deficits and LPC parking capacity. Live Lifts will be performed at Logistics Park Chicago based on chassis availability, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you have questions regarding any of these facility and process enhancements, please contact the Logistics Park Chicago Hub Manager at 815-424-2200, or your BNSF Sales Representative at 888-428-2673. In addition, attached is a set of Frequently Asked Questions regarding the suspension of the pre-mount program at LPC.
