Reminder: Road Closures Near BNSF’s Seattle International Gateway Today through October 31

As a reminder, the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program will cause a nine-day closure of several roads used to access the Port of Seattle (near-docks and on-docks) and BNSF’s Seattle International Gateway (SIG) Facility.

The closure will occur from 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, October 21, 2011, through 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2011, and will affect SR 99 in the following locations:
Southbound SR 99
o Between the Battery Street Tunnel and West Seattle Bridge – Closed around-the-clock
Northbound SR 99:
o Between the West Seattle Bridge and South Royal Brougham Way – Closed around-the-clock
o Between the South Royal Brougham Way on-ramp and the Battery Street Tunnel – Open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Open for special events at CenturyLink Field

The BNSF SIG Facility will remain open during the construction, but drivers will need to check the latest information from the DOT for reroutes, traffic advisories and other related information on the Alaskan Way Viaduct project website. If the truck queue backs up on Atlantic Street, police may direct truck traffic south on 1st Ave South (west on Hanford, north on EMW). See attachment for more information. Drivers can also call the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program Hotline at 888-AWV-LINE (298-5463).
