Billing Changes for Moves on GNBC
BNSF Railway and the Grainbelt Corporation (GNBC) are preparing for a modification of the accounting relationship between our railroads.
Currently, the GNBC operates as a BNSF handling carrier, allowing BNSF to publish rates directly to and from GNBC stations. Effective Wednesday, May 1, we will be changing to an reciprocal switching carrier accounting relationship.
From your perspective, railcars involving GNBC will continue to appear as "BNSF Direct" routes. You will continue to issue your bills of lading to BNSF & pay BNSF freight bills.
However, the BNSF interchange points with the GNBC should be shown as the billed from/to stations. In addition, the GNBC shipper/consignee information should continue to reflect the proper physical address and city/state.
Shipments to/from the GNBC station of Clinton, OK and north should show Enid, OK as the rail station. Shipments to/from GNBC stations south of Clinton, OK should show Altus, OK as the rail station. The GNBC reciprocal switch charges as published in the GNBC switching publication will be subject to the reciprocal switching absorption provisions in the appropriate BNSF pricing publications.
