Despacho Previo Notifications Via Email Only Effective June 15, 2009

BNSF’s “Despacho Previo” documentation process and rules govern the amount of time that a rail shipper is allowed for a shipment to be successfully documented for entry into Mexico. If the free time allowed is exceeded, the tariff specifies the amount of document delay charge that is owed.

As a courtesy to shippers, BNSF currently notifies their identified freight forwarder (broker) via facsimile when the free time has been initiated. Beginning Monday, June 15, 2009, this notification process will change from fax to email only. This is the only change to the current process.
