Metals LOGs: New 4-Week Shipping Period Alignments and Trial 1-Week Permit Beginning June 12, 2017

BNSF is pleased to announce that, beginning Monday, June 12, 2017, guaranteed placement of 66-foot gondolas for newly aligned 4-week shipping periods and a trial 1-week shipping period will be offered through the Loading Origin Guarantees (LOGs) Program.

In order to better meet customer needs, the new alignments are intended to address demand surges that can occur at the end of the month. Shipping weeks will continue to begin on Mondays and end on Sundays.

4-Week Shipping Period
The auction for the new 4-week shipping period (effective Monday, July 3 through Sunday, July 30) will be held Monday, June 12, 2017 (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT) as well as Monday, June 19, 2017, unless all available equipment has been allocated.

Trial 1-Week Shipping Period
The auction for the first trial 1-week LOGs shipping period (effective Monday, June 26 through Sunday, July 2) auction will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT). The new 1-week auction will only be offered based on equipment availability. There will be a minimum bid per car assigned to the 1-week permit, and the 1-week auctions will only take place once a month.

For further details of upcoming auction dates, please review the bid calendar for 66-foot gondolas.

Current LOGs rules will apply including, but not limited to, the following:

  • The 4-week shipping period permits ordering flex will remain at +20% with a 1 car minimum.
  • The trial 1-week permits will have 0% flex with a 1 car minimum.
LOGs Rules language for shortfall penalties will remain the same, clarifying that the number of eligible Bill(s) of Lading submitted showing the LOGs permit number during the LOGs period will be used to determine any shortfall penalty.

For further details about the BNSF LOGs Program, please consult Rules Book BNSF-7.
