Update Report: Flooding on the Hannibal Subdivision (Gregory, MO)
On Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 12:45 p.m. CDT, we received a preliminary report of flooding on the Hannibal Subdivision near Gregory, MO. Gregory, MO is approximately 20 miles south of Keokuk, IA. The main track remains out of service between MP 167.4 and MP 168.7. The Army Corp of Engineers reports the flooding is being caused by 2 separate ice dams between Gregory and Canton and does not have a time frame for the ice dam to break loose and restore river flow to the location. As a result, the flood gates at Canton are being closed across our tracks this afternoon as a precaution. We are currently rerouting trains around the out of service location. The estimated time of opening is still pending.
