Update Report: Flooding in North Dakota, Montana and Minnesota

BNSF continues to experience challenges related to flooding on our northern lines resulting in soft track conditions. These conditions require BNSF to perform daily track maintenance to maintain safe operations. Customers should anticipate slower than normal operating conditions. There are a few carload industries that may not receive service due to high waters. Reroutes will be established where possible.

As mentioned in a service advisory issued on Friday, June 24, 2011, BNSF reported that both main tracks at Minot, North Dakota were closed to rail traffic due to flooding. As an update main track two was returned to service at 9:00 p.m. CT on July, 4, 2011. Main track one was returned to service at 6:30 p.m. CT on July 6, 2011.

Detailed information on the flooded areas impacting the Carload Network:

Grenora sub is out of service north of Stanley, North Dakota.
Lewistown sub is out of service between Sipple and Lewistown, Montana.

Choteau sub is out of service northwest of Power, Montana.
Westhope sub is out of service north of Rugby, North Dakota.

BNSF will continue to assess the situation daily and advise on those situations to help minimize impact to our customers.
