Chicago Inbounds Impacted by Regional Flooding

At 3:50 a.m. CT on Thursday, April 18, a track washout was reported near Chillicothe, Illinois, approximately 100 miles west of Chicago, Illinois. Due to severe storms in the area, multiple washout sites were identified which impacted trains inbound for Chicago.

Trains across our network were slowed or re-routed to provide time to repair flood damage. Those repairs are now largely complete. BNSF’s Chicago Hubs are processing inbounds and expect to be back to normal intake levels within 24-36 hours.

We will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available. Customers may experience delays of up to 24-36 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.
