Report: Preparation for Tropical Storm Isaac Landfall

BNSF has initiated preparations for Tropical Storm Isaac. The storm is estimated to make landfall along the Gulf Coast near Mobile, Alabama early Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012.

The BNSF New Orleans, Louisiana Intermodal Hub Facility will be temporarily closed beginning today August 27, 2012 at 3:00 PM CST. Additionally, the line segment between New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana will be removed from service beginning at 12:00 PM CST today.

BNSF has arranged for the rerouting of Norfolk Southern (NS) and CSX interchange traffic away from New Orleans. This traffic will interchange at Birmingham, Alabama and Memphis, Tennessee for the duration of the storm.

Louisiana and Delta Railroad (LDRR) and Canadian National (CN) traffic operating through the impacted area will be staged on the BNSF until post storm assessments are completed.

BNSF does plan to maintain service to the Union Pacific (UP) interchange in order to serve our customers at Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Customers should anticipate delays of 24-48 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.
