Initial Report of Derailment on CSX RR Near St. Joseph, Indiana
On Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 12:01 p.m. Central Time, BNSF received an initial report that a CSX coal train derailed 12 cars near St. Joseph, Indiana, blocking both main tracks. St. Joseph, Indiana is on the CSX Railroad, 200 miles east of Chicago, Illinois located between Garrett, Indiana and Willard, Ohio.
West Olive coal trains will continue to interchange, however all other interchange from BNSF to CSX at Chicago, Illinois is temporarily suspended.
At this time we do not have an estimated return to service. Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.
