Updated: FXE El Paso Interchange Closed

As noted in the Service Advisory issued earlier this evening, FXE (Ferromex) Railroad has temporarily closed the interchange with BNSF Railway at El Paso, Texas today, July 20, 2013, due to flooding south of the U.S./Mexican border. New opening time is estimated 4:00 p.m. Central time, Wednesday, July 24, 2013. El Paso, Texas, is in far west Texas, near both the U.S./Mexico border and the border of New Mexico.

Southbound trains en route to the FXE at El Paso are being staged or slowed to match the opening time. Northbound empty unit trains have been diverted toward Eagle Pass, Texas through Friday, July 26, 2013, which will allow BNSF to run all southbounds when the tracks are released at El Paso. Eagle Pass is 482 miles south of El Paso, and 143 miles west of San Antonio.

BNSF will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

Customers may experience delays of 48 to 72 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.

Updated shipment information is always available through the secure Rail Central web tool at bnsf.com
