Report: Service Interruption at Grizzly, Montana

On Monday, February 14, 2011, train operations in the Montana area were suspended due to a bomb threat on an Amtrak train at Grizzly, Montana. This location is approximately 80 miles west of Shelby, Montana. This area was shut down from 9:30 PM CST until 4:30 AM CST due to the incident and subsequent investigation.

Recovery operations are underway and trains will begin operating as crews and transportation are available. The area where the incident occurred has been heavily impacted by winter weather. These conditions will further hamper the return to normal train operations in this area. The service interruption will cause delays as far east as Minot, ND.

Customers should expect to see additional delays of 24 - 48 hours to traffic moving between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest.
