Final Report: Derailment near Superior, Montana
As mentioned in a Service Advisory issued on September 4, 2013, BNSF reported that 19 cars
derailed on Montana Rail Link (MRL) railroad near Superior, Montana. Superior, Montana is
approximately 57 miles north of Missoula, Montana. The MRL moves BNSF trains between
Spokane, Washington and Laurel, Montana and Billings, Montana.
The track was returned to service at 10:30 a.m. Central Time on Friday, September 6, 2013.
BNSF will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available.
Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.
