UPDATE: Widespread Flooding Impacting BNSF Operations in Midwest

Round the Clock Service Restoration Efforts Continue

BNSF teams remain focused on restoring service in portions of Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri impacted by the record flooding. Several subdivisions, either partially or in full, remain out of service due to high water levels, flood-related damage to infrastructure or both. Water levels have dropped in some locations, and we expect to have service restored on our Sioux City Subdivision, which runs between Sioux City, Iowa and Ashland, Nebraska, this weekend.

With coordination through our 24-hour command center in Lincoln, Nebraska, BNSF is moving multiple belt trains full of ballast to washed out locations throughout the day and night. Crews have made considerable progress with track repairs, including rail and tie replacement, in those locations where flood waters have receded. Some locations in the area, however, will require more extensive repair work before restoration of service is possible.

We are utilizing re-route options where possible to move traffic through the area. We also continue to closely monitor water levels along the Mississippi River and additional outages that may occur involving subdivisions adjacent to the river.

For more information on BNSF flood recovery efforts, including the latest service outages map and list of embargoed destinations in the region, please visit our flood recovery webpage: www.bnsf.com/floodrecovery.

We have added a new feature to this webpage which allows customers impacted by the flooding to provide facility information to BNSF. Under “Report Your Facility’s Status,” customers can access this online form to submit information regarding a facility that has experienced damage or where service is suspended. This information will greatly assist us in our recovery efforts.

As always, if you have questions about your shipment(s), please contact BNSF Customer Support at 1-888-428-2673.
