Adjusted Interchange Mileage for BNSF Mileage-Based Fuel Surcharge
Due to the recent release of PC*Miler Rail 19, effective Thursday, November 1, 2012, BNSF will upgrade to PC*Miler Rail version 19 from ALK Technologies as the mileage source for interline moves on which BNSF has pricing authority. The PC*Miler Rail Fuel Surcharge router option within version 19 will be used to calculate total miles for these interline moves. This represents a change from the PC*Miler Rail Fuel Surcharge router version 18.3 that BNSF has used since August 1, 2012.

ALK Technologies is a private software company. Updates to PC*Miler are the exclusive decision of ALK Technologies and are not dictated or controlled by BNSF.
For auditing purposes, version 18.3 mileage will remain available on the BNSF website after the move to version 19.
For movements that originate and terminate on BNSF and on the BNSF portion of Rule 11 shipments, customers can continue to compute mileage using the mileage inquiry on the Web.
Customers can continue to compute mileage for unit train movements subject to the coal unit train mileage table on the Web.
