Updates to Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide for Improper Price Authorities and Explosive Shipments

Effective immediately, BNSF is modifying the charge associated with providing improper price authorities on shipping instructions, and is prohibiting the transfer of certain explosive shipments. The following updates will appear in the BNSF Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide:

    Improper Price Authorities
If an improper price authority is furnished on the shipping instructions for restricted shipments, a charge of $500 will be assessed. The charge for an improper price authority for non-restricted shipments will remain at $500. This will be reflected in Item 3, Item 35 and Appendix H.

    Explosive Shipments
BNSF will not perform cross-town transfers or drayage of division 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 explosives. As a result, division 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 explosives between California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to or from St. Paul, Minnesota, are prohibited. Shipping instructions for these movements should be via Chicago; the shipper will need to perform the cross-town transfer or drayage between the Chicago facilities. This will be reflected in Appendix E.
We encourage you and your shipping partners to review the BNSF Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide. We appreciate your support of a safe transportation network. For additional information, please contact your BNSF marketing representative.
