Coiled Metal Loading Certificate Changes And New Logs Restrictions

Coiled Metal Loading Certification
Effective Monday, May 11, 2009, BNSF Intermodal Loading Certification for shipping coiled metal will need to be completed online in the Waybill Management Tool on This online Loading verification replaces faxing the Equipment/Loading Letter of Certification for each coiled metal shipment. (Faxing will no longer be available after May 10, 2009.)

This application is available in the secured, under the Manage tab, Waybill Management Tool, and Outstanding Errors.

If you do not currently have access to the Waybill Management Tool, please register for this tool in order to complete the Certification. For registration questions, please contact BNSF eBusiness at 888-428-2673, option 4, 1.

In order to properly ship Coiled Metal safely and securely, additional requirements must be met as outlined on the Intermodal Coiled Metal Web page (found at, under Markets, Intermodal, References).

Logs Restrictions
Effective June 11, 2009, intermodal shipments of wooden logs will be Restricted.

Restricted Commodities and Equipment
As with all Restricted commodities and equipment, logs will require 1) a special price authority, 2) proper loading and weight distribution (no more than 25,000 pounds in any ten linear feet or 2,500 pounds per linear foot), 3) applicable special conditions, and 4) complete shipping instructions (including actual shipping name - accurate description - and STCC).
