Service Transition to BNSF Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC) Intermodal Facility

With the opening date of BNSF Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC) in Edgerton, KS, approaching, BNSF is preparing to transition service from the Argentine Intermodal facility in Kansas City, KS, to the new LPKC Intermodal Facility in Edgerton, KS. Please note the following regarding this service transition:

  • Traffic will be transitioned to LPKC by traffic type and origin/destination for a seamless, phased cutover.
      • Target date for first phase of transition is Monday, September 30, for international traffic originating from and destined to Southern California on-dock marine terminals.
      • Phase 2 of the transition is targeted for Monday, October 14, for traffic originating from and destined to Los Angeles, CA and Phoenix, AZ.
      • Phase 3 of the transition is targeted for Monday, October 28, for all other traffic moving to and from Kansas City.
  • Specific schedules for LPKC will be published in the coming weeks.
  • As we near completion of construction and move into the transition, adjustments to the above plan may become necessary and will be communicated in advance.

To ensure safety and efficiency, a new highway interchange is being constructed at Homestead Lane and I-35. Accessing LPKC via Homestead Lane improves entry and exit access for drivers at the new facility. For directions and more information, please see the attached map.

The information below is important for preparing to transfer service to the new facility:
  • Pre-registration for drivers to use the new Automated Gate Systems (AGS) began at the Argentine facility on August 12, 2013.
  • Customers will not need to change their shipping instructions during the transition period to LPKC. Any needed changes to customer shipping instructions from Kansas City, KS to LPKC will be communicated after the transition is complete.
  • The BNSF E-Business team will be making necessary changes to reporting tools as we transition to LPKC.

BNSF works closely with customers to provide services that meet current and future shipping needs and will continue to evaluate future enhancements of intermodal service based on your feedback.
