Consolidated Chassis Management to Expand Denver Chassis Pool to BNSF Denver Intermodal Facility Effective July 1, 2006
Consolidated Chassis Management, LLC has announced the final stage of the Denver, Colorado Consolidated Chassis Pool (DCCP), which is expanding to include BNSF’s Denver Intermodal Facility, effective July 1, 2006. The DCCP is the first in an emerging national program establishing chassis pools at port and inland intermodal locations based on a cooperative model developed by the Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association, Inc. (OCEMA).
The DCCP is currently comprised of 16 participating ocean carriers and is open to any international carrier or their agents using the BNSF Denver Intermodal Facility. The DCCP is managed by Flexi-Van Leasing, Inc. With common-use chassis pools, the same chassis can be matched to multiple customers’ containers, thus boosting a facility’s capacity. A facility with a greater capacity can handle more freight in the same amount of space, resulting in greater efficiency at the facility.
The DCCP is expected to produce significant benefits for customers, through more efficient equipment utilization and reduced congestion at the BNSF Intermodal Facility in Denver. Users of the DCCP can expect that through optimization and the integration of best practices, to significantly reduce over time the number of chassis required to be stored at the BNSF Intermodal Facility in Denver.
