Houston (Pearland) Intermodal Facility Storage Relief and Chassis Shortage
As an update to the last advisory issued on Friday, September 19, 2008 many customers and businesses remain affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Ike both on the Texas Gulf Coast and points beyond.
Due to heavy inbound traffic, Houston (Pearland) has been impacted by a shortage of chassis. As a result, storage relief will be granted to international shipper participants in the OCEMA Gulf Coast Chassis Pool and domestic shipper participants in the Neutral Domestic Chassis Pool at BNSF Houston (Pearland) facility retroactive to September 11 through October 15, 2008.
BNSF has been required to manage inbound flows to Houston (Pearland) from southern California. Shippers can assist us in keeping this facility fluid by expediting the return of chassis to Houston (Pearland) with an outbound bare chassis.
We appreciate your continued efforts in picking up intermodal units at the facility in order to avoid congestion and return operations to normal in the Houston market.
If you need additional information, please contact BNSF at 1-888-428-2673 option 3, option 3 and option 2.
