Update Report Flooding and Snow in Minnesota and North Dakota (Red River Valley)

As mentioned in a Service Advisory on Friday, March 27, 2009, BNSF is experiencing flooding throughout the Red River Valley region. Even though we are able to get the trains through the area, there are industries we are not able to serve because of the high waters. Trains are still running through Fargo, ND, Moorhead, MN and Dilworth, MN. BNSF continues to develop numerous reroute plans to help minimize the delays for our customers.

    In addition to Red River Valley floods, the area has been hit with a winter storm. The near blizzard conditions are estimated to remain in effect until Tuesday, March 31, 2009.

    Detailed information on the flooded areas:
    • Red River Bridge near Grand Forks, ND is out of service. This segment is estimated to return to service on Monday, April 6, 2009.
    • Morris, MN to Beardsley, MN is out of service until further notice.
    • Erie, ND to Clifford, ND is out of service until further notice.
    • Humboldt, MN to Noyes, MN is out of service until futher notice.
    • Noyes interchange traffic will be rerouted until further notice.
    • Harwood, ND to Gardner, ND is out of service. This segment is estimated to be returned to service on Monday, April 6, 2009.

    Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through these corridors.
