Intermodal Service Update

Crews are continuing to work to restore normal service on trackage affected by the Midwest floods, and we anticipate restoring service over our Chicago-Denver route via southern Iowa later this week.

    As recovery from the flooding continues and we resume normal traffic patterns, we are seeing imbalances in the availability of intermodal equipment and locomotives at some locations. As noted in our June 20 Independence Day Holiday advisory, we plan to continue to operate intermodal trains over the upcoming holiday weekend, but flood recovery efforts and working through traffic accumulated during the flooding may require adjustments to train schedules.

    Due to freight volume levels and possible train consolidations and schedule adjustments, shipments originating on Tuesday, July 1, through noon on Saturday, July 5, may experience extended destination availabilities of between 24 and 48 hours. Please contact your BNSF Intermodal Marketing or Customer Support Representative if you anticipate critical service requirements over the holiday. We ask for your help in recovery efforts by continuing to pick up equipment throughout the holiday period to alleviate congestion and to manage chassis availability.
