Preliminary Report: Rock Slide near Whitefish, Montana

We have a preliminary report of a rock slide at Tamarack, Montana which is seventy miles west of Whitefish, Montana that is impacting train H-NWTPAS2-21. The slide happened at approximately 11:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday, June 23, 2010.

BNSF personnel are on the scene to determine the impact. It is estimated the main track will be returned to service at 08:00 a.m. CST on Friday, June 25, 2010. BNSF will reroute traffic in order to minimize impact to service. We will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available.

It is typically 24 hours after a derailment before detailed information is available through the BNSF Load and Ride Solutions department. As more information is made available a BNSF LARS contact will update you. Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.
