Weather: Update to Trinity River and Village Creek Flooding
This is an update to the October 19, 2006, weather advisory regarding flooding on the Timber Rock Railroad (TIBR) from the Trinity River near Romayor, Texas and from Villa Creek near Kountz, Texas.
The Timber Rock Railroad is operating trains on the line between Silsbee, Texas and Tenaha, Texas. There are, however, several track repair locations that require reduced train speed and inspections. The Tenaha, Texas interchange with BNSF remains current.
The line between Silsbee, Texas and Cleveland, Texas continues to have water covering parts of the track, with the water receding slowly. The estimated opening of this line is either on Sunday, October 22, or Monday, October 23.
The interchange at Somerville, Texas between the BNSF and TIBR continues to be halted.
BNSF and TIBR are working together to minimize delays on cars sitting in the Silsbee, Texas yard by interchanging at Beaumont, Texas when possible. BNSF has also been rerouting east/west overhead traffic around the TIBR during this outage.
Traffic for industries between Silsbee, Texas and Beaumont, Texas has not been affected by this outage. BNSF will continue to monitor this situation and will notify customers of any changes.
