BNSF Flood Advisory: Saturday 4:00 a.m. Update

BNSF restored limited service over its Transcon route at 1:45 a.m. CT today, Saturday, June 28, when one of the two main lines near Marceline, MO., was re-opened. The second mainline track in that area remains flooded but is estimated to return to service late on Saturday, June 28, 2008.

BNSF will continue to re-route some traffic to manage the capacity of the line that has been re-opened.

Due to the backlog of trains and the slow orders necessary to accommodate additional repairs to flooded trackage, shipments over our Chicago-Kansas City route may continue to be delayed at least 48 hours.

The Chicago/Denver route (to and from) continues to be out of service due to flooding just east of Burlington, IA. We are re-routing via our southern route around that flood-affected area, with expected delays of at least 48 hours.

We are still experiencing flooding at various locations on the Mississippi River between Burlington, IA, and Memphis, TN. This flooding affects shipments to and from Memphis, Birmingham, St. Louis and Atlanta, with delays of at least 24 to 36 hours.
