BNSF Automotive 2013 Thanksgiving Operating Plan

This year the Thanksgiving holiday will be observed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29.

BNSF will continue to operate automotive trains over the Thanksgiving holiday. However, due to lighter volumes of traffic and possible train consolidations, we anticipate that shipments originating or arriving destination on Tuesday, November 26, through Sunday, December 1, may experience extended destination availabilities of up to 48 hours.

Delays may occur on interline traffic if connecting carriers have reduced operations for the holiday.

All automotive facilities will observe normal working hours on the days preceding and following Thursday, November 28. Loading and unloading on Thanksgiving Day will be performed as required. Please contact your BNSF automotive marketing or customer support representative if you anticipate service requirements over the holiday.

For interactive tracing 365 days per year, please use BNSF’s Web Tracing tool at by logging in with your user name and password, then selecting Track Your Shipment. For service issues, please call 888-428-2673 and select option 4, then option 3.

Customer Support will provide normal weekend coverage and maintain a limited staff on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 29.

Shipping instructions must be submitted via EDI or by using the BNSF Shipping Instructions Web tool at Faxed shipping instructions are not accepted. Assistance with shipping instructions at BNSF Waybill Solutions is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Please call 888-428-2673 and select option 3, option 2 and option 3 for assistance.
