Flood Update - A message to BNSF customers about the effects of Midwest flooding on BNSF
To our valued customers:
I’m pleased to report that flooding along the Mississippi has subsided to the point that all flood gates that had blocked BNSF trackage along the west bank of the river have now been opened.
Our crews are continuing the cleanup process between Burlington and St. Louis and we are beginning to be able to assess damage at additional locations south of St. Louis, although some trackage does remain under water.
The crest continues to move down the Mississippi, and the river is expected to drop below flood stage at all locations on BNSF lines by early next week.
Except for those points along the Mississippi directly affected by flooding, there are no lingering direct effects of the earlier flooding and line closures on BNSF traffic flows.
We will continue to report on the flood situation, and we continue to appreciate your support and your business.
