Service Update for Thursday, July 2, 2015
The operation continues to address severe weather challenges that affected system performance this week. As we reported, both main tracks of our Marceline Subdivision, part of our Southern Transcon route, were out of service for more than 24 hours last Thursday due to washouts. The outage caused significant service disruptions even as procedures were implemented to re-route trains and minimize the impact on traffic flows as much as possible. As our maintenance crews made the necessary track repairs, engineering teams coordinated on the recovery plan to normalize traffic through this key corridor quickly once service was restored.
