Preliminary Report: Track Washouts in North Dakota

At 1:05 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, the main track near Norwich, North Dakota was taken out of service due to a washout as a result of high water. This location is approximately 15 miles east of Minot, North Dakota on the Devils Lake Subdivision. Estimated time of returning the track to service is 7:00 p.m. CDT today.

At 3:30 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, the main track between Jamestown and Windsor, North Dakota was taken out of service due to a washout as a result of high water. This location is on the Jamestown Subdivision. Estimated time of returning the track to service is 1:00 p.m. CDT today.

At 5:00 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 the main track near New Rockford, North Dakota was taken out of service due to a washout as a result of high water. This location is approximately 75 miles east of Minot, North Dakota on the KO Subdivision. Currently, there is no estimated time of opening.

BNSF personnel are onsite to determine the impact and we will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available. BNSF is routing trains around the impacted areas where alternative routes exist. We will continue to monitor and take proactive measures to maintain fluidity through the BNSF network.

Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.
