Service Update for Friday, May 8, 2015
Earlier this week, we advised affected customers of a BNSF crude oil unit train derailment in Heimdal, North Dakota, located on our KO subdivision which runs between Minot, ND and Dilworth, MN. In response to the incident, procedures were implemented to address the service interruption, including the re-routing of traffic around this area.
Versus the same week in 2013: better by 48.5%
Total trains on the system was down two percent from the prior week with an average of 1,555 trains on the system.
Locomotive velocity, measured in miles per day (MPD), was 282.2, which is essentially unchanged from the prior week’s 281.7 MPD.
Locomotive dwell decreased by six percent from the prior week at 18.8 hours.
Car velocity was essentially unchanged at 223.7 MPD versus 223.9 MPD recorded the prior week.
Versus the same week in 2013: better by 6.8%
Train velocity also held steady from the prior week at 18.8 miles per hour.
Versus the same week in 2013: up 6.8%
Total volume exceeded 200,000 units for the eighth consecutive week with a robust 203,569 units moved in Week 17 (ending May 2).
Terminal dwell increased by nearly one percent to 23.6 hours versus 23.4 hours the prior week.
