Track Outages in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri Impacting Operations

We are experiencing significant service challenges and delays across portions of Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri due to flooding. As we notified impacted customers, heavy rain during the past 48 hours has caused track washouts in multiple locations, which has resulted in service outages involving four BNSF subdivisions: the Cherokee Subdivision, which runs between Springfield, Mo. and Tulsa, Okla., the Fort Scott Subdivision, which runs between Kansas City and Springfield, the Thayer North Subdivision, which runs between Springfield and Thayer, Mo. and the River Subdivision, which runs between St. Louis and River Junction, Ark., approximately 20 miles west of Memphis.

BNSF crews and equipment have been deployed to the affected locations and are addressing track conditions to restore service as soon as possible. Service could resume on the Cherokee Subdivision as early as Monday morning. However, flash flood watches and warnings remain in effect across the region, and there is currently no estimate on when train flows could resume on the other three subdivisions. With water levels expected to rise in some areas and additional rain possible, service on our Cuba Subdivision, which runs between Springfield and St. Louis, Mo., is also at risk later today.

Our operations teams are re-routing some trains to minimize this disruption. If you have questions regarding your shipment(s), please contact BNSF Customer Support at 1-888-428-2673 (select option 4, then option 3).

We will continue to provide customers with further updates.
