Update Report: Flood Waters on the Douglas Subdivision in Kansas

BNSF is currently experiencing operational impact due to track outage caused by heavy rainfall on the Douglas Subdivision in Winfield, KS. Winfield is approximately 24 miles east of Wellington, KS. This location impacts traffic to and from Chicago to Texas.

Recent heavy rainfall across Southeastern Kansas has caused the Walnut River to hit major flood stage which has resulted in segments of track on the Arkansas City Subdivision and on the Douglas Subdivision to be removed from service at 8 p.m. CST on Friday, September 9, 2016. The river is currently projected to crest at on Monday, September 12, 2016 in the afternoon. There is no estimated time for opening the track at this time.

BNSF will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available. Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through this area.
