Service Update for Friday, October 30, 2015
On Thursday, October 29, President Obama signed into law H.R. 3819 - The Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2015, which includes a three-year extension for implementing Positive Train Control (PTC). As we have informed customers, this law gives railroads the additional time needed for PTC installation and testing, and it includes a limited two-year extension beyond 2018, if necessary, to ensure complete, safe and effective implementation. We appreciate all the efforts made by our customers to advocate for this necessary extension. BNSF will continue to work aggressively to implement PTC as quickly as possible prior to the new deadline, while also ensuring the reliability of this important safety technology.
