UPDATE: Service Restored on Cuba Subdivision in Missouri

After an extended outage, BNSF re-started train operations on our Cuba Subdivision, which runs between Springfield and St. Louis, Missouri, yesterday at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. As we reported, the subdivision had been forced out of service for more than a week from the major flooding that impacted the region. BNSF crews worked nearly nonstop to remove debris as well as complete the extensive track and bridge repairs needed in more than a dozen locations.

Several maintenance windows are scheduled during the remainder of the week for additional track surfacing. Customers may continue to experience delays on shipments designated to move through this corridor until operations have fully normalized.

The River Subdivision between Crystal City and Cape Girardeau, Mo. remains out of service as the adjacent Mississippi River is still above flood stage in multiple locations. There is currently no estimate on when train flows may resume on this subdivision.

Another storm system could bring strong storms and more heavy rain to the region tomorrow and into Friday. While water levels have receded, any additional rainfall could affect track conditions in recently flooded areas and cause some service disruptions. BNSF crews are monitoring the conditions closely and will address any affected areas as quickly as possible.

We will continue to provide customers with further updates on any significant service interruptions.
