Preparations for Fall Harvest and Smooth Grain Movements
In order to provide smooth service and meet our customers’ service expectations during the Fall Harvest, BNSF has prepositioned cars and locomotives based on customer forecasts and feedback. In addition, BNSF stands ready to utilize various countermeasures as necessary to preserve fluid operations across the rail network, including to and from origin and destination facilities and connecting carriers. In order to address potential congestion and other temporary operational impairments during the harvest start-up period in the Pacific Northwest, BNSF plans to utilize the AAR permit embargo system, effective Monday, September 17, to assist planning and execution for all supply chain stakeholders. BNSF will provide customers with updates and additional information as it becomes available.
