Dirty Car Photo Upload Program Now Available

BNSF continues to solicit your help in ensuring that railcars are completely unloaded and free of any product or material. Maintaining railcar cleanliness can improve both car availability and timely shipping.

BNSF now offers a photo uploading tool to all registered bnsf.com users to aid in reporting dirty cars (unsuitable for loading). The tool also gives customers who have received a bill referencing BNSF Rules Book 6100A, item 3250/3251, the ability to view photos of the cars. As a reminder, the unloader is responsible for removal of all lading, dunnage, blocking, bracing, strapping or other materials prior to releasing a car.

To Access The Photo Upload Tool:

After logging in to bnsf.com, go to the “Application” section. Under the “Manage” tab, click on “Dirty Car Tracking Picture Upload.” (See the screenshot below.)

To Report A Dirty Car:

The UPLOAD PICTURES feature allows customers to report and attach up to three photos and comments for each dirty car. Customers may reject each car as dirty and will be assigned another car if within the acceptance window.

To Retrieve Photos Utilizing the Tracking Number on Bill:

The SEARCH FOR TRACKING NUMBER feature allows customers to retrieve photos of dirty cars from their bill. Photos can be viewed by entering the tracking number found at the bottom of the bill.
