05/17/2019 UPDATE: Midwest Flooding Recovery Efforts BNSF has made significant progress in restoring service to portions of our network in Iowa and Missouri impacted by major flooding. Weather conditions in the region have been favorable this week and water levels continue to slowly recede. The River Subdivision between Crystal City and Cape Girardeau, Mo. remains out of service as water levels remain well above flood stage through this area south of St. Louis. There is no current estimate on when this portion of the subdivision will reopen as BNSF continues to evaluate track conditions. Any major rainfall or storm events in the region may cause additional delays to service restoration. On the Napier Subdivision, between Pacific Junction, Iowa and Napier, Missouri, BNSF remains on schedule to restore service on the entire subdivision by the end of the month. As we reported, crews have been constructing a new 3,000-foot causeway to support our main line near Bartlett, IA. Nearly 400,000 tons of ballast was delivered for the causeway’s construction. Thanks to the hard work by our BNSF engineering teams and contractors, the installation of new track through this zone will begin today.
