Preliminary Report: Derailment at Wichita Falls, Texas

We have a preliminary report that train H ALTBEL1 19 has derailed at Wichita Falls, Texas at approximately 1:00 a.m. CT on Sunday, June 20, 2010.

BNSF personnel are on the scene to determine the impact. It is estimated the main track will be returned to service at 7:00 p.m. CST on Sunday June 20, 2010. BNSF may re route some traffic in order to minimize impact to service. We will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available.

Customers may experience delays of 24 to 36 hours on shipments moving through this corridor.

Crews are still working to determine exactly which units were impacted and the extent of damage if it exists. It is typically 24 hours after a derailment before detailed information is available through the BNSF Load and Ride Solutions department. As more information is made available a BNSF LARS contact will update you.
