Port of Oakland Gate Restrictions Update
BNSF Railway continues to closely monitor the labor issue affecting west coast ports. As such, westbound traffic into the Port of Oakland may see delays due to low marine terminal production.
Effective today at 11:59 p.m. (CST), BNSF Railway will restrict gates for westbound empty containers from all inland hub facilities that are destined to the Port of Oakland to ensure that capacity and resources are most effectively deployed for customers across our network.
Westbound loaded containers destined to the Port of Oakland will continue to be accepted at intermodal hub facilities. In addition, BNSF will continue to accept both empty and loaded containers bound for Oakland in interchange from eastern carriers.
For Seattle International Gateway (SIG) and Port of Tacoma updates, please reference BNSF's 11/20/2014 Customer Communication.
In this fluid environment, we will continue working with our customers and terminal operators to keep resources and freight moving, advising as conditions change.
