BNSF Seattle International Gateway North Yard To Open February 1, 2008
BNSF has been working to expand capacity in the Pacific Northwest. To help achieve this, effective today, February 1, 2008, the new North Yard (NSIG) will open at the Seattle International Gateway Intermodal Facility in Seattle, Washington.
Beginning February 1, 2008, the redesigned North Yard will be utilized in conjunction with our current SIG operation to handle international business to/from the piers. This facility has been redesigned with six new tracks totaling 7,800 feet and serviced by new state-of-the-art KONE Wide-Span electric rail-mounted cranes, a first on BNSF Railway.
This facility is an extension of our current SIG facility and requires no changes within the current billing process. All intermodal traffic notified at Seattle with lot locations 17 – 29 will require pickup at the SIG North Yard. All domestic loads in-gating Seattle for eastbound rail movements will continue to in-gate at the main SIG facility.
The truck entrance to the new facility will be located at the corner of Colorado and Massachusetts St. Please refer to the attached maps for the North Yard location.
