LPC Checkpoint Process Enhancement To Begin October 12, 2008

Last year BNSF implemented a new ingate and outgate checkpoint process at Logistics Park Chicago (LPC) to improve gate throughput and speed up drive time into and out of the facility. The process included Optical Character Recognition (OCR) - using video cameras to identify equipment prefixes and numbers and create permanent images of the equipment.

Beginning Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. central, we are further enhancing our ingate and outgate checkpoint process by implementing biometrics – a driver fingerprint identification process that helps further improve gate throughput and security.

Process Overview
What is the current process at the Gate System Kiosk?
Driver enters their Driver’s License/Identification into the kiosk
Kiosk requests remaining information to complete the transaction

What is the new process at the Gate System Kiosk?

How to Prepare for the New Process
If you have not registered:
Drivers are encouraged to register as soon as possible before the October 12 implementation to ensure a smooth transition and reduce delays at checkpoints
Registration can be completed with a valid Driver’s License at the LPC Driver’s Assistance building

If you have already registered:
Drivers who have already registered at BNSF’s Corwith Intermodal Facility will not need to re-register at LPC
All future registrations will be shared among BNSF facilities

For more information about the new process and the kiosk screen change, please refer to the attached Quick Reference Guide. BNSF will also have additional presence in the kiosk lanes to assist drivers with the new process.
