Northern California Facility Consolidation

Richmond, California
Over the past several years, demand for intermodal service has been gradually declining into and out of Richmond, California. In addition to the volume changes, BNSF is concentrating its assets on a more streamlined core network. This change will allow us to eliminate on line work events and create more point-to-point train operations.

This change will also improve density flowing to Oakland International Gateway (OIG) and to Stockton. Listed below is the equipment that should be delivered to these respective facilities:

Oakland International Gateway – international and domestic steamship containers (20-foot and 40-foot)
Stockton Intermodal Facility – domestic containers (48-foot and 53-foot) and all trailers

To view schedules for service into and out of OIG and Stockton, go to Intermodal Service Schedules on the BNSF Web site at

BNSF will discontinue service to and from Richmond, California effective September 1, 2006.
