Pacific Northwest Marine Terminal Update
BNSF Railway continues to closely monitor the labor issue affecting the ports in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). Connecting carriers in the eastern part of the country plan to resume interchange volume from their origination locations. We are currently working with both CSX and Norfolk Southern (NS) to restore normal traffic flows for the Pacific Northwest through the Chicago gateway interchange.
BNSF inland facility gate restrictions for originating shipments for Tacoma at Logistics Park Chicago (LPC), Cicero and St. Paul remain unchanged from those that were communicated on Monday, November 10, 2014. However, labor productivity in the Pacific Northwest is seeing gradual improvement which is helping to ease congestion. As a result, small volumes of freight are moving to and from the PNW.
We will keep monitoring this situation and look forward to quick resolution, so that service to and from the Pacific Northwest can be fully restored.
