New Carload Shipment Notifications Coming Soon to bnsf.com
This month BNSF is introducing new and enhanced carload shipment notification options through the Notifications channel inside the secure bnsf.com. Loaders, unloaders, in-care-of (or similar parties) may sign up to receive the below notifications by email, which will inform you of events surrounding your shipments to make it easier for you to manage them. You will also be able to see a recent historical record of the notifications sent to you on the “Recent History” tab.
This notification sends an alert when there is a time of day and/or day of week change to local service. Enhancements to this notification type include:
· Changes made to local service will show details of your previous service and what the new service will be.
This new email notification sends an alert when a rail shipment is impacted by an embargo or OPSL note.
· An embargo is a temporary restriction of traffic movement to an area affected by congestion, accumulation or other interference with operations, such as track, bridge or other physical impairments.
· An OPSL note (Open & Pre-pay Station List) is a permanent method of identifying stations, which, due to operational issues, such as clearance, weight, capacity, etc., requires controlled traffic movement.
· Both scenarios may contain a provision for a permit to provide a controlled movement of traffic to the affected destinations.

How Do I Sign Up?
Customers must be a registered bnsf.com user to receive notices by email or to view the notices online. If you do not currently have a bnsf.com login (ID and password), you are encouraged to register as soon as possible by clicking on the “Register/Login Customer” link at www.bnsf.com.
Email subscriptions can be found on your secure bnsf.com home page inside the Notifications channel, on the “Monitor Shipments” tab.
