On November 07, 2018 at 12:07 p.m. CDT, we received a preliminary report of a Union Pacific train derailment near DT Junction, CA impacting all BNSF main line tracks. DT Junction, CA is 7 miles south east of Los Angeles, CA. The main tracks opened on November 07, 2018 at 9:20 p.m. CDT.

On November 08, 2018 at 12:30 a.m. CDT a second train derailed on the San Bernardino subdivision between, Prado Dam and Esperanza, CA impacting BNSF main line tracks. The first main track was open on November 08, 2018 at 7:20 a.m. CDT and the second main track was opened on November 08, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. CDT.

As a result of the derailment(s) our intermodal facilities are experiencing elevated inventory due to the delay of departing eastbound inventory from the facilities following the opening of the main line tracks today and associated train congestion. BNSF is taking the following actions as part of the service recovery effort.

We began restricting units from ingating at Los Angeles, CA starting at 12:00 p.m. CDT 11/08/18 for standard (p-rated) units destined to Pearland, TX, Kansas City, KS, Memphis, TN, and Alliance, TX.
In addition to the restrictions above we will be expanding the gate restrictions to the following destinations to assist in further recovery efforts as a result of these service interruptions. Additional gate restrictions for standard (p-rated) traffic destined to Rutherford, PA, Croxton, NJ, Austell, GA, Charlotte, NC and all international traffic will go into effect at 17:00 p.m. CDT on 11/08/18.
We will review these restrictions on a daily bases and advise impacted customers with changes to these restrictions. BNSF will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available. The next update to this service advisory will be provided on 11/09/18.
